Your new home has an existing home security system
Many times after you close on a home, you’ll notice that the previous owners didn’t take a smart home system. All the devices function well, are installed in the right areas, and are ready to go. In this instance, all you might have to do is to call and start a new monitoring contract. A Vivint installer will still come to your home to make sure there are no usability problems, and they could offer ideas on an upgrade or two. It's a fast visit, and you can have your monitoring set up without having a bill for any new devices -- unless you add on.
The previous homeowners can give an existing Vivint contract to you for a small set-up cost to make the transfer simpler. If the owners downsize to an apartment complex or smaller home, you keeping the security service may be a condition of the sale.
You want to move and bring your old components with you
You might want to bring your existing Vivint system with you to a new place when you move. It should be pretty simple to do, as most smart devices are portable. You can uninstall each device yourself or contact a professional expert to come and dismantle everything. Then an expert will hang the same components -- and any new items you need -- in your new place. And your home security contract will stay the same.
